Marudyan UK was established to support the Calcutta Marudyan Society in India to bring sponsored education to underprivileged children and families.

John Beentjes

John Beentjes

John Beentjes is joint founder of Marudyan UK, and founder and Director of the Calcutta Marudyan Society in India. John has significant experience in bringing sponsored education to the country. He spent his first seven years in West Bengal, where he set up a 150 place school in a converted rice shed. Today this is an education institute for over 550 students. After spending one year in Bangalore helping in Tsunami relief work, he moved to New Delhi to set up the Marudyan Education Centre in 2010. Marudyan UK marks the next chapter of his commitment and dedication in helping to alleviate poverty through education.

David Heslop

David Heslop

David believes that education is a fundamental right and the most important catalyst in helping under privileged children improve their lives. Initially a supporter of the Calcutta Marudyan Society's project in the Old Gurgaon, Delhi, David was instrumental in setting up Marudyan UK with John Beentjes. He is a qualified architect and Managing Partner of international architectural practice ADP. David brings over 30 years experience of education building design, project and business management to his role as a trustee.

Alison McKerracher

Alison McKerracher

Alison has a strong belief in universal access to education and supports Marudyan UK in its aim to improve the opportunities for significantly under privileged children. She is a trained architect and has been a Partner with international architecture practice ADP for 11 years. During this time she has been closely involved in designing facilities for education at all levels.

Richard Wingfield

Richard Wingfield

Richard is excited to be involved with the charity and its aims, and as a trustee also performs the role of treasurer, ensuring compliance and good governance necessary with a registered charity. Richard Wingfield is a seasoned Finance Director who has been involved with international architecture practice ADP for a number of years, after holding senior positions in a number of international businesses.
